Hello, New Chelsea Family!

What an exciting week we had! Our school was recognized by the Kansas State Department of Education with a Spotlight Award for supporting our students in Social/Emotional development at New Chelsea. Only 20 schools in the state received this distinguished award. This award highlights the school community (that's you, too!) and our focus on giving students the character education they need to be productive and successful citizens in the world. Commmunity Circle, Tigers Den, Morning Meetings, and Monthly character traits are much of this work! Congratulations to the staff, our kids, and our families on the award!

This week we have Community Circle on Monday, May 11, at 9:15am for grades K-2 and 10:30am for grades 3-5. Please come if you can. While you are there you can sign up online for volunteering at our Playground Build day on Saturday, June 20th. It takes minutes to sign up, and just asks for your name and phone number. PLEASE SIGN UP!

Our Fifth graders enjoyed a dance Friday night, themed, "Dancing With the Stars." Thanks to all who attended.

You may have heard that we ARE having Summer School from June 2-June 26th. Applications will be coming home soon. Students will have the option of remaining at school for Kidzone programming from 12:30-5:30pm Monday through Friday.

Last, but certainly NOT least, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of our mom's in our school community. I hope you were spoiled on Sunday by your family!
